Droplet Harvest

Fog-catching is a method to collect consumable water by condensing the tiny liquid water droplets that comprise fog.

Constructed with vertically suspended nets that trap fog droplets as the wind passes through, these system has long been employed in areas facing water shortages as a low cost measure to mitigate this issue.

Droplet Harvest transforms this principle into a sustainable architectural concept through a jalousie built with fine structured ceramic pieces that can be achieved in this material, thanks to ceramic 3D printing technology.

The smooth glazed finish and the ceramic's thermal conductivity promote fog condensation on contact, and favor the water flow, for effective collection.

Given the global water shortage, this low-tech approach provides access to an additional water source, enabling buildings to contribute to water resource conservation."
